It appears to be some type of data "place holder"...because if you do a part number search (using that number) you will see that it appears MANY times in the database across just about every model and in different sections of the database.

When you click on any of those numbers...the same thing appears in supplemental info that says "read comments and instructions carefully". I would assume that if you go into a dealership's parts department and give them that number...the BMW ETK will list this same information in which the BMW parts personnel can access in BMW's ASAP. (BMW ASAP = After Sales Assistance Portal)
