While I'm not saying that there isn't a fault (I'm not going to contradict the scanner!) that reading of 51DegC. is not totally implausible for a hot engine that is sitting (not running) while being scanned. The heat from the engine causes "heat soak" in the intake manifold, as it's not being cooled by an incoming airflow, and the heated static air in there could easily climb to 51DegC.

I can observe this same effect on my 3.0d when scanning it when the engine is hot (after a run).
