'intermittant' is quite commonly pointing towards water damage.

However, to cheer you up my story:


Bought the car, two fob's came with it. With one in the pocket, the comfort access worked, with the other one (only) it did not.

Tried re-synchronising, had it at the dealer to check if it was an original or a fake copy, had the car checked, had the keys removed from cas and put back. All to no avail: one worked, the other did not. They both worked as remotes, and to start the car after plugging it in, but only one worked with comfort access, close and start.



Then the car went back to the seller for almost two months, where it stood for weeks with the battery disconnected.



Picked it up, had a bit of a vocal fight, and drove off. Next day, both keys worked with comfort access........
