I did confirm that the motors in the pass seat work by hot wiring them each individually, separately.
Both the pass seat & driver seat seem to be DOA - I'm guessing the switch module under the seat doesn't like just being hooked up to only + & -. Maybe it's missing some kind of ignition signal. In my research I've not read about this kind of issue with seats out of other BMW model numbers, so it seems odd it would only affect the X5.
I thought about bypassing all of the switches and just hotwiring the motors. It seems I would only have partial movement, as the switches control movement in different planes that the motors themselves don't have terminals for. That must be part of the job of the module.
