I didn't consider a 4.8 as thread was asking about 4.6 but it would be interesting to know if last 4.8 year would be most likely to appreciate. Certainly easier to find a like new, low mileage vehicle.
I wouldn't recommend purchasing any X5 for investment purposes. Buy what you love and leave it when you don't.
