Glad to hear that you got some benefit out of the visit. But just a guess ... you have a non-sport steering wheel and you did not need an airbag replacement.
BMW's multiple letters to me, the recent alarming postcard, and a few phone calls from me to them ... all seem to confirm my hypothesis about a non-sport steering wheel, but they are not willing to confirm it directly when asked. Gathering data, ignoring most opinions here, so far is confirming it.
It all makes perfect sense. I just wish someone at BMW would be able to directly confirm things when asked. It would be a true danger if somebody who did have a sport steering wheel, and did have its airbag replaced, and it was replaced with a faulty Takata bag (I believe all 3 must be true to actually have an airbag that warrants replacement) ... thought since they only had a weak 3 spokes that their wheel was non-sport (wrong of course, since the sport is 3 and the non-sport is 4), and skipped on the recall. So I can understand why BMW's party line is what it is.
Still waiting for a data point to contradict this.
