Now that's a properly worn tire. Looks near identical to the one my wife took out.
You have the cure to 1000 degree payment in your photo:
I use my sun screen every time I work on a car. Doesn't matter the temp it's way more comfortable to kneel or sit on than pavement when it's icy or snow. (Or even when a nice temp and avoid kneeling on one pea gravel)
It's ∞ nicer to be on padded insulation. It will help greatly when the road is too hot to touch as well as too cold. It's also water proof so when it's raining or wet also applies. You can keep folded for more padding when kneeling or you can lay it out flat to lay down on.
Not long ago I got splashed by a car on the freeway and the water made it into my transmission connection and gave me a failsafe.
I needed to slide under my car in an inch of slush and the sun screen to the rescue I barely got wet and way warmer.
