I am into improving handling. I have done lots of suspension upgrades and have Powerflex subframe bushings but no where else. Handling capability is way past anything needed for the street. Powerflex has a reputation of lasting much longer than stock bushings but I don't think they are worth the additional investment especially when weighed against other suspension mod options. E39 experience is not necessarily transferable to an X5. Oops, responding to your question is also off topic.
