Most jobs that require special tools are not frequent repairs and now there are reasonably priced tools for most of those jobs that work very well. I have found it better to purchase the tool since some of my experience trying to shade tree engineer it take too much time and sometimes caused other damage. I justify the cost of the tool in the labor saving just as you do. And, you can never have too many tools.

I was thinking more along the line of a one off use not a lending library but something along the lines of the next guy pays $30 less than the previous guy if the tool is $300 it takes 10 uses to pay for the tool and each person is out $30. If somebody keeps or loses the tool the bulk cost is on them.
Since I have a pair of X5 it's more logical I'd buy a tool and keep it.
Also with the price of the Amazon tool under $90 that same concept works but faster. Somebody guys for $90 sells for $70 next guy sells for $50 etc every rental is $20
