Spent some time cleaning up the engine bay and washing the wife's diesel. We had a rat that was relieving itself on the engine cover and generally leaving the bay a mess.
Some local cats must have taken care of the problem for us as out traps did not. No sign of the rodent for a few months now so I guess he's gone. CEL has been popping up lately for SCR efficiency so I had left it on hoping for a more specific code to follow soon. Fortunately it did. 2010 X5d @ 167,634 miles on it.
1. 4D16 SCR System efficiency
2. 4BAC Reducing agent active tank fill-level sensor signal
So looks like I will be outlaying $275 to FCP to rebuild the active tank for the level sensor, heater, etc. Not too bad considering the options that were available 5 years ago: new $1300 tank or $400 crap shoot used tank.
A few other codes were present.
1. 54C6 Expired Xfer case fluid (also ordering from FCP)
2. A06B CA aerial bumper (leaving this for now)
3. 4F85 Trans EGS ratio monitoring clutch E. I'm guessing the seals have failed and I'll put in new solenoids while I'm in there as the trans has gone into limp mode twice over the last 12 months. Both times were on the highway when a sudden 2 gear drop was necessary for acceleration.
Here is a couple of shots of the engine with my little helper learning how to properly clean a set of wheels... she has some learning to do still.

She's 5, what are you going to do.
