That corroborates what I've been learning about the 6hp. I just don't want to mess with it twice so I'm doing everything accessible from below at once. Best course of action will be dictated by your tolerance of possibly having to go back in for the solenoids or valve body (the separator plate also wears out inside the VB and is part of a rebuild).
