Thanks guys- I dont mind doing the rebuild and no-one here in South Africa seems to have the rebuild kits. Engines are available here but not from X5s , mostly 330i and I am worried that they wont mate to bell housing etc... might be opening more cans of worms.
Engines vary from 1500- 2500 USD!!! If I could pick one up for 500 I would be very happy
