I don't know who you are going to use for your tune but on my previous 09 X5d I had a JR 2.8 tune (full race) and also full delete. That being said; you're still the one driving the vehicle, just because it's tuned doesn't mean it's going to beat on itself. It will still be just as reliable as it was ever going to be unless after the tune you take advantage of the additional power and beat the hell out of it.

Anyway, we put 125k miles on our after the tune and never had a single issue aside from general mainentenance stuff. I sold it with 225k on it and last I heard it is still running strong for the next owner. I would go with whatever tune you can afford. If you can afford the highest level, then get it.
