Great, I'll have to get up to speed on what's all involved in the E39 swap.

I have a 2002 3.0 manual E53 that needs more power and I think an LM4 would be a nice option. For all the work, a 6.0 would be nice, but the stock ZF 5 speed can't handle much, and I've heard the NV125 is also a weak point.
