That break can be repaired with a stainless zip tie. Search for my awr-fix on the dhc repair. Since it’s a lot of work to open up the door I would get the part in case it’s irreparable but if you can fix it return the part.
Also, fix the door actuator against freezing it is almost always the cause of the DHC break. If you put a piece of Teflon tape (sold for putting on bottom of mice) in the right place the door actuator will never freeze.
+1 on disable auto lock. My wife’s car has the feature enabled and 100% of her door lock motors failed yet my exact same model year and almost identical miles (180k) has all 4 door locks still working (though passenger door motor is worn where it won’t unlock about 5% of the time).
I have a $6 repair DIY for the door actuator ($230 for a new one). I had to fix all four on wife’s x5 so $920 vs $24 I was highly motivated.
I don't have coding software so I can't turn that crap off but I think 2020 is the year I finally get some.
Wife likes the auto lock but I could at least code that shit out when I use MY key.
(Or at least change the speed to 15-20 mph): what happens to me all the time since I work on the car is when I move the car say from street to garage: locks. From garage back to street:locks.
I have at least fifty times maybe more when to go get something from the trunk and the damned thing is locked even though I just unlocked it to put something in the car.
Scenario: go from house to car to work on it, open hatch to throw the oil in the trunk, drive around to the garage and when I get to the garage the trunk and all th doors are locked. From habit I'll just double pull door handle to exit leaving all the doors locked and go try to remove the oil from the trunk which is locked. Next step curse out the car usually quite out loud and numerous times on the way to the central lock button.
I'd have punched a dent into my car by now if that moronity was enabled
