Our old E70 3.0si has a constant loud "whine" when in motion, it does not sound like the engine. But it is constant whether in neutral or accelerating or slowing down , as long as it's in motion.

What could the cause of this be? Mileage about 80,000miles but we got it used so not sure if clocked.
