Hi Wayne, mine failed on my X3 a few months ago, mainly obvious with fluctuating idle but was affecting higher revs too. It actually stalled twice, both times as I was turning across the path of traffic coming towards me. Immediate improvement on unplugging the MAF, left it that way until I could get a replacement on eBay.
