Depending on the car, the drink cup holder has a rubber insert you remove - the red T-Handle in the boot (if fitted) goes into the slot to override the gearbox into neutral.

If you dont have the t-handle in the boot (mine doesnt) - you need access to the underside of the vehicle - theres a procedure to put the gearbox in neutral manually using an allen key.
