Been meaning to do a update. So.....

The car has been on the roads and going strong for 3k miles so far with a new/used engine.

Starting from the beginning my wife was driving one day and she said it made a horrible noise, smoked a lot and died. About an hour later it got towed home. Actually started right up and drove it on the truck. Once home I took it down the street light throttle and it did it to me. Got it back home. And started tearing into it. Thinking it was a HPFP/injectors flooding the cylinder. Supported by finding contaminate in the fuel system signs of water contamination. CHANGE YOUR FILTER/WATER SEPARATORS!

Replaced HPFP/injectors and cleaned every single line. Still ran like crap. With a ton of blow by.

Pulled the HP turbo exhaust housing off to find the turbine was completed locked up. Bearing section was grenaded!

Replaced turbo. Car won’t start. Pulled the intake tube off Starts right up.

Intercooler is COMPLETELY FULL of oil. Removed drained cleaned

At this point it is running, blow by is normal. All is good. Then she starts smoking like crazy because of course the exhaust is full of oil too. So removed drained cleaned

Back together and on the road. Still some residue burning off but it’s running fine. 15 min later original damage from hydro locking shows it’s face and I started to get a knock

It had bent and twisted the rod. Wiped out the bearing and crank journal

So I sourced a 60k mike 335D engine. Certainly cheaper than a X5 engine. But it did require basically tearing it down to a long block to put on a X5 oil pan, timing chain cover and accessories on it. I put my new turbo and HPFP/ injectors in it.
