If you lock with the remote I think you are saying that you can't use the key in the door lock cylinder to unlock.
To electrically unlock the doors you turn the key 45° but if the motor doesn't work you need to turn the key 90° to engage the mechanical unlock (same in reverse for locking)

If I lock the doors remotely, they will lock.
If I try to unlock remotely, by pressing the key on the key fob, the door won't unlock.
In addition I cannot turn the key 90 degrees, only 45 in either direction. Go figure!
I'm leaving my door unlocked for now, but at least it opens with the new handle
