I would think that $234 over your limit is worth it, the IBM T is light and thin. Its the best real IBM.

Things I would think about for a 14 year old are:

1) Does he want to use it for games, probally need a graphic chip then.

2) Get buyer protection, my 17 year old just spill milk on her T43. IBM sent a box and it is being fixed. Man I am glad I got the coverage.

Toshiba might be a good may to go, they are bigger and heaver but have graphics at a lowwer price, would also look at a Dual Core Acer. Look at the CompUSA add for this week. http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...36978&pfp=cat3
