Use a different power tailgate lift control module for E70?

Hi, everyone--

We had some heavy rains recently and water leaked into the right side of the trunk, where the fuse box is and the power tailgate lift control module is.
It flooded to the brim and shorted out the tailgate control module such that it no longer works. The water did not get high enough to spill into the center compartment where the battery is, thankfully.

The cause of the leak is shown in this YouTube video (not mine--I want to thank this guy for nailing the cause and describing what to look for):

Anyway, I have been looking online at used tailgate control modules, and the ones for the E70 are quite a lot more expensive than the ones for other BMWs.

The one for the E70 has this Bosch part number on it: F005V01255.

The one for, say, the 2011 X3 has this Bosch part number on it: F005V01253. It costs on average 25% of the part above.

Both units appear to have the same connectors.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck using the F005V01253 module as a replacement for the F005V01255 and whether any reprogramming was necessary. I can probably do some programming using INPA, as I have that working well enough that I can register batteries using the USB to KCAN cable.

Thanks in advance!!!
