If the purge valve (at the engine)is the problem it is fairly easy to get to and does often give trouble but I would only replace with an original BMW part. If there is something else wrong the test pump and valving is behind the rear fender well cover and not so easy. I can't remember the code number but are you sure it's not the gas cap ? There are some really good threads on this stuff on this forum.
