I went ahead and just ordered the factory tool kit Special Tool #83 30 0 491 781 and includes the following:
24 5 361 Threaded bush
24 5 362 Union nut
24 5 363 Bush
24 5 364 Nut
24 5 365 Slip sleeve
24 5 366 Bush
This tool costs $45 from the dealer and they had to order from BMW AG in Germany. It looks really small and it offers the right way to do it with bushings and slip sleeves to protect the seal in and out in the car avoiding the front driveshaft. I read a lot of problems using the generic GM tool. Here is the TIS using the BMW tool.
