crystalworks is on a distinguished road
I see we are still nicely divided along political lines. Unfortunate.

Trump is a detestable human being. But he did not impact this any more negatively than a Democrat would have. Pelosi was encouraging large gatherings in late February.

That could be interpreted (probably wrongly) as putting dollars over lives to promote tourism in late February just as Trump gets accused of. Let's stick try to stick to the facts.

1. CV19 originated in China
2. CV19 mutated in Europe
3. CV19 arrived to the US from both China and Europe (we don't know exactly when for either strain, but it looks like cases were here in early December)
4. The European strain appears more deadly (it affected once of the most densely populated cities in the world though)
5. The government was unprepared (as it always is, see Katrina, 9/11, 2008)
6. The statistics are showing we over-corrected in our reaction to flatten the curve
7. We, collectively, spent 6 trillion dollars to buy time
8. The US has lost 38.4 million jobs so far

Call the disease whatever you want. Doesn't change anything about the situation. There will be outliers in every situation and that guy who stabbed the Asian family should be treated as any criminal in his case, with the added caveat of the hate crime statutes. He was 19 years old from Midland and probably doesn't know is face from his asshole. Maybe 40 or 50 years in prison will enlighten him.
