I don't think it is intrinsically evil. i would say it's more like it serves no purpose other than to possibly offend a significant number of people. So unless that one intends to offend those people there is no reason to use the term. Choosing a name for something doesn't have to consider grammar. The official name is Covid-19. The 19 stands for 2019 when it was discovered.
