I had an Yamaha XS850 in the boot. Seats down, obviously had to take the forks and the rear wheel off the bike but she when in fine. Laid the forks And wheel down next to her and then shoved another spare 850 engine in next to it all. It was the length that was the killer really. Could have got away with just taking the forks off for the height maybe. But it made it flat bottomed pretty much without the wheels and front end.
Did about 30 miles with it in there down mostly Cornish lanes and a bit of fuel carriage way.
She didn’t bat an eyelid. Didn't even heat the compressor running to jack up the rear bags. Just had to take it easy around the corners as I was worried the bike would tip and got through a window lol
If I have to transport it like that again I’ll 100% take some old pillows to tape round the pointy bits though, or even get some little trailer straps and tie it down to where the rear seats Hinges when they fold Down
Edit: an XS850 is 569lbs and I had that plus another engine so must have been about 700lbs ish
