This post tells us all we need to know. You don’t understand how the system works. Does your AC have a clutch or is it variable displacement? Using a BMW capable code reader are there any codes related to climate control? Why do you think putting 12v to a switch that is designed to send a signal by completing a path to ground is a good idea?

It’s not a ‘74 Matador.
