20" wheels from E70 onto E53

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone done this before, take 20" 4.8 E70 rims and put them on an E53 ?

I've had my 4.8iS E53 for a couple of years now and just recently managed to put cracks in both rear rims. Unable to find a set of the correct E53 20 inch wheels I bought a set of wheels of a later car ( E70 4.8) and bought some suitable rings but then found the rears rub on the inside. I didn't even try the fronts on the car but the offsets suggest they will be ok.

I'm new to this whole offset, rings business but need to get the E70 rims to work on my E53.

It looks like a set of 10mm spacers for the rears would be the go. Can these also deal with the different centre sizes or will the rings still be needed ?

Some stats in case they help :

Tyres are the same 275/40/20 front and 315/30/20 rear

E53 Front 9.5x20 ET45
E53 Rear 10.5x20 ET30
E53 72.6mm centre

E70 Front 10x20 ET40
E70 Rear 11x20 ET37
E70 74.1mm centre

Cheers
Rich
