Update: Dodging the rain and work, I was able to remove/inspect and reinstall the recently purchased crankshaft position sensor (CPS from here on out). The CPS looked seated and installed correctly but it did have some abrasion on the end as if it was scuffed up a bit. I didn't have another one so I reinstalled it, buttoned everything up and tried to start it again.

It did not start, but unlike the first attempt, I did get some codes to repeat. I have the following:
4D87/not present: Exhaust gas temp sensor after exhaust gas recirculation cooler signal
3E91/not present: DDE: Crankshaft sensor signal
48DC/not present: 48DC Charging pressure sensor plausibility

I've ordered a new CPS and it should be here in a few days. I'll tear it down again and replace it. Updates to follow. On the plus side, I can remove the starter quickly now.
