Is unusual, especially after they had it apart far enough to “tidy up some of the soldering”.... That said, it’s probably a losing battle to argue with them, you probably picked the shortest path to driving your X again by opting for their lifetime warranty module.
Would be curious though, is yours identifiable enough that if they happen to fix and send back that you’d know it? I’m sure all’s we’ll but that is still odd - though I’ve sold allot of parts in my life and been yelled at more than once for something coming out of the box defective... actually used to have a saying “just because it’s new, doesn’t mean it’s good”...
