I hate to be “that guy”... but to your question anything can be done with the budget, knowledge and time [emoji106]
That said, a turbo with the vanos should be no different per say than a supercharger and there were a handful, well... I guess there were maybe 2 or 3 kits made, for the E53 so my gut says if you can manufacture the manifold, blow off piping, intercooler plumbing and all that good stuff and get it snugged under the hood - yep, an M62TU could definitely be turbo charged.
There’s a guy on YouTube who actually installed a turbo charged LS motor, he lost his all wheel drive, but yep, he installed a working, running turbo motor and made solid power!
Would love to see it done if you push forward and if we can help in anyway, just let us know.
