So here we are still killing about a thousand people a day due to not being able to get the nation to do the simple things of wearing a mask, social distancing, avoiding crowds and washing hands frequently. Trump, his administration, most republicans in house and senate and his followers downplaying the importance of what citizens should do to get COVID 19 under control.

I can't find the words to express how terrible the foolhardy, callas, lack of empathy, divisive politicalization, ignorance, stupidity and defiance surrounding the pandemic is.

We are killing around 1000 people a day and shortly after Labor Day we will have more spikes and likely run the daily death toll higher. Now there is pressure on the CDC to pull back on recommendations and some saying the death toll is vastly inflated. And here comes flu season and children going back to school. I am so ashamed of the lack of appropriate action of this nation. We are working diligently to give all that COVID 19 needs to maximize the rate of infection and deaths.

A vaccine is not going to be the panacea. It will take years to get enough people vaccinated to make a significant difference. And that assumes enough citizens will agree to be vaccinated. Then there is the issue of whether or not the vaccine can keep up with the virus mutations.

I am confounded that so many people can condone their behavior, have their head so far up their A#$. So many that think not wearing a mask is a demonstration of support for their political party, a badge of courage or a display of personal defiance.

There are those that say this is not who we are as a nation. It feels like that was who we were. I hate the thought but I don't think we have hit the bottom of what we are becoming.
