I was hoping not to have to remove the components above it, but I guess we will see.


I read that the exact same amp comes in the E46 and some other sedans, but if you use one of those in an E53, then reprogramming is needed due to different speaker configurations - which is why I was glad to get one from an E53.


On my way home tonight, after the radio had been silent for 15 minutes or so, I noticed that the head unit was really hot to the touch, and even more when I hit the cassette eject and felt the back side of it. It had been out in the hot sun all day, but this still seemed to be pretty extreme after A/C had been on 20 minutes. Hopefully the new (used) amp fixes it. It came in yesterday and that thing is bigger and heavier than you would think.



If any of you guys like to tinker with electronics, you can have the old one for the cost of shipping.
