But I'm not seeing where you explain which pins to splice in the two wires that go to the clock spring..
See BMW part numbers at number 14. The harness going to the steering whee plugs in to the steering wheel shifting unit. There are no wires to splice except at the shifter. The clockspring is not involved

You have a male and female for pin connector and they are designations of pin slot 1 2 3 4... So am I missing it where you mention which pin number you splice the two wires to go to the clock spring? Or do I need to look up the pinout of the 4 pin connector to see each 2 wires see for shift up and down?[

I did this how-to over 7 years ago so so my memory is of no help. I didn't look it up. I just did the test I mention.

and then also on my car I have a 4.8 so I have the heated steering wheel I already have a clock spring that has the two pins present however those two pins are currently used for the heated steering wheel circuit... So that means I need to depin the heated steering wheel connector and the steering column that supplies the signal to the clock spring right?Don't know. Didn't have that to deal with.

For my main thing honestly it's just trying to figure out in this cool four-pin connector custom harness you made what's the pin out of it? He showed connectors with four pins going in and out but you didn't say which of the two pins to splice the two shift +- wires into. I think every thing you need is there. I'm left handed so pictures and words may not line up.

Apologies if I missed it just trying to make sure I get all this right before I start on it tomorrow.
Hope that helps.
