Bumping this thread up.
I'm having a similar issue right now. Recently was noticing some smoke rolling up from under the hood and I know what burnt oil smells like. It would periodically come and go though. so I figured an oil hose was going bad. Also, I was burning a little more oil than normal. Of course these diesel engines naturally burn a little oil between changes, but the amount of oil I was losing was way more than normal. There were very small hints of a little oil leaking from where I was parking the vehicle overnight. I knew a trip to my mechanic was imminent. My mechanic Kevin has a shop that's about 50 miles away. He's the one that did all my deletes and JR 2.0 tune installation.
I decided to take it to my other friend's tire shop first to have the front brakes addressed before driving it to my mechanic's shop. The shaking when I hit the brakes was getting beyond what I could bear. Upon the road test I think one of the grease monkeys got down on the throttle pretty hard and blew a hose apart that was already on it's last leg. Massive puddles of oil under the car, and obviously my little intermittent problem just became a much bigger problem. Another friend that runs a towing service came got it on his rollback and took it over to Kevin's shop. Yeah, I got friends in low places.
Got a call from Kevin today saying I need 2 turbos and an intercooler, as they are all full of oil.
Little back story here... I got all the hardware and software for my deletes from AARodriguez outside Atlanta. With them having so much experience I figured I'd call Andrew to see what he knew about it. Sure enough without even looking at the vehicle, from what I described to him that Kevin told me, he said a lot of similar year and mileage diesel e70's that have been deleted are having the same issue and that their $159 Valve Cover Gasket kit will most likely solve the problem. He said the gasket hardens over time, becomes brittle, just overall breaks down, and thus pressurizing the crank case pushing oil into areas it typically should not be, namely all the ones listed above.
Not sure if this is gonna fix the root of my issue, but I ordered the VCG kit and had it shipped directly to Kevin's shop. Hopefully this will resolve it and the seals in the turbos aren't FUBAR.
