PDF unfortunately didn’t open for me. I will say the list of “knowns” isn’t likely to cause your problem but of the list of “unknowns” the Vanos, ICV and Camshaft PS all could contribute. I would go as far as saying it probably isn’t the valvetronic itself - though I could be wrong - I base that on having the incorrect levers on mu car and experiencing a cold start rough idle and flashing CEL from time to time but never anything bad enough to experience a no start or start and die scenario.

Would be interested in see what all the recall covered and what that work might offset the cost of any other work while the have the engine apart.
