That said, the Xoutpost community have trouble shooting down to a science (through just sheer volume of shred experiences) for the most part - and I think that comes from a true desire to fix the problem vs just spend money and guess until it runs again.

I, like you, trust myself FAR more than anyone with my own cars [emoji106].

Cant agree more I could have never done half of the things to my e34 and e39 with out the bimmer community. When I did my first engine swap m50TU to a S50 the board were awesome....I initially did it all myself and everything went good....was lucky that it was the sme 413 harness so it was a direct swap..

got it done at 7pm fired it up and it ran for a few seconds and then died...I was like WTF...was running over everything again and again and could not find the issue...

So posted that night to BimmerForums and the next morning had several replies. The 1st reply suggested that I confirm that I connect the main ground correctly...

I'd be damn when out and checked and it was not even connected....connected it and it fired right up....WHOOHOOO!!!

Then had a BMW factory mechanic from South America help with with all the wire diagrams so I could swap the pedal clusters for the 5-Speed ZF from the slush box..

He send me all the factory diagrams and what needed to be done for the swap...He was awesome but I think since he was a huge Bimmer buff he understood and made all the difference in the world
