I did use bmw website(and every other online car locator resource) to browse used inventory nation wide but bmw did not have the particular setup I was looking for which was white in color, black sport interior, m package and bonus was black wheels. I did fortunately find exactly what I was looking for and signed the paperwork yesterday. It’ll be shipped from about 1200 miles away but at least service records are clean and it has some warranty left. It however was slightly more than I wanted to spend but my sanity and time spent searching for this particular setup made the extra couple g’s worth it to be done with it ha. Back to the odd price variance - A prime example I’ll give you of the price is I found a 17 model sdrive 5 hours from me with 45k miles priced at $39k. The car I ended up purchasing is a 18 model xdrive with 44k miles at $37k. The price variations on this model nation wide is pretty crazy. A 17 model xdrive with nearly same miles sold for $32k early last week (someone already had it on test drive and secured by time I called) True car value, kbb had the 17 listed at $35k fair purchase price, the dealer laughed when I told them. I saw these price variations all over the nation however I was searching under strict specifications and did not entertain colors outside white or silver and black interior. I did find another 17 mode sitting in Cali for 30k but it’s service history was questionable and you could tell owner did not care well for it.... for now this in search of is closed. Thank you, I am excited to get the new ride in for the wife, it’ll be fun to drive around.

Congrats on the find! I can only assume the S version has more options then the Xdrive if you're comparing the same model years, similar mileage. A few extra options can drive the cost up several thousand $$$.
