This is why I always have a clean work area:
- Clean the garage floor before doing any work.
- Any nuts/bolts removed: I place them on a piece of cardboard.
If necessary, I label them so during installation, it is a breeze.
Once done and everything buttoned up, I always mentally go through all the nuts/bolts to be sure they are all torqued correctly...When in doubt, check again.
Then test drive in the neighborhood and/or highway...

I thought a test drive was standard practice for mechanics. They should have definitely felt or heard the shock loose if they took it for a drive.
