New to X5 world, advice needed please (Cooling and fuel pump)
There is a bug that can cause the temp indicator to peg red when engine is not even warmed up.
It happened to me once. I knew the engine couldn't be hot as it was below freezing out and I only had been driving 5-8 minutes.
I had an IR thermometer with me and I verified the temp was just warm. I turned the engine off and back on and temp went back to normal on the non gauge. (the temp indicator on the dash is a there r position indicator not a dial: 1) warning up 2) warmed up 3) overheated).
The sensor is only loosely connected to the actual engine temp. If you are pulling an engine temp from a sensor you'll note that it's not really coordinated with the "dial" on the dash.
