That's how I replaced the entire cassette on my E39. It was a very comical look but fortunately no one was around to laugh away
. It'd spent quite a bit on parts trying to fix the sunroof. I'm glad I replaced the cassette including the glass. There was someone parting out their E39 and I scored the sunroof cassette intact, for like $80.
