Update time!
Shortly after modifyinig the mufflers I wanted a bit more sound so I opened them up again and took most of the packing out. I don't have a clip of it but it is a little louder and sounds very deep at low revs. No droning on the highway. Perfect.
I had to fix the leaky valve covers and wanted to paint them at the same time:
Had to fix both the Vanos solenoid leaks too:
And I replaced the aux belts because one of them was squeeking on startup. Happy that it was not one of the bearings
The results:
One of the door handles broke , fixed it with a Febi replacement
We had lots of snow this year, did some donuts and drifts
Did some towing in The Hague to pick up some furniture. Small streets.
Did some more towing, bringing my track car to the dyno for ECU tuning after engine work.
Still had one leaky door because of a broken weather barrier, ordered a new OEM item instead of a DIY plastic version. Hopefully it will be fixed now.

I ordered some Amazon center caps and they were crap quality. Looks like the majority of the aftermarket caps look to be the same build.

2 of the centercaps are now starting to corrode, still look OK-ish and 2 of them are still looking good. I think they did not like the salt on the roads.
Next week the car must have it's yearly road worthy inspection (APK in Dutch). I expect no problems, maybe an advisory on the rear tires as the inside edge is pretty worn. I want to replace them anyway because they show age related cracks and they are a cheaper brand. I rather have matching front and rear tires.
Currently not much planned for more modifications, actually non at all except a supercharger but that is like mission impossible because they are almost non existent second hand.
Currenlty the X5 is perfect in my eyes and does everything while looking
