A friend of mine went through this with his FRM. Right headlight was out and code showed bad FRM. We took it to the dealer, they said a new FRM was $600? and since they had to be coded to his X5, they could not be held responsible if it didn't work, as the part is not returnable after it's been coded to a car.
They were able to get the light on using their shop software, but couldn't get it to operate once is was off their computer. I suspect user error.
So he found some YouTube video that showed how to correct it with INPA.
Wish I had more information for you, but he can't find the video now.
