workingonit is on a distinguished road
I was starting to reconsider the conversion to electric when I found many stories of even new viscous clutch failures. Probably a small %, and most likely sub-oem quality , but still new. And the plastic bladed fan, again probably mostly non-oem, really inspires little confidence in me. Then there's the wear and tear on the water pump, as a defective or out-of-balance fan assembly wobbles at high speed.

Best bet is to bite the bullet and go full conversion. My X5 will probably sit a month until I get all the parts, because my wife insists her Cobalt is next for repair (Master Cylinder, ABS, power flush & fill).

Though the X5's fan is already disintegrated, I'll leave it on for dire emergency usage, in the remote chance that the other three working vehicles cease to work.
