Not that the two are connected, but maybe they are. Shutting off the X5 with the door open, I get the ratcheting sound of the transfer case gear. I ordered one and should be here Monday, but could a failing transfer case actuator gear in any way cause the slipping/surging I'm getting in second gear? I suspect not, but worth seeing if any of you have some insight.
