I won't tow the car until later in the month or August - tracks just opened up in Ontario and my car is buried in a garage at a farm. No codes, lights, etc. I do have the transfer case actuator gear near dead, so that will get fixed this week. The slipping in second gear manual mode may or may not be tied to that, but there are no codes with transmission either. Some error in the VTG but it just tells me there is a fault but won't tell me what exactly it is. I'm getting the transmission looked at Wednesday. If I end up doing a bunch to it, I'll reset adaptations and see if that helps. Worse case, if I can't tow well with it (and as you said) switch to an H-pipe. If you beat on it and wind it out, you're past the low range really quick and live in the higher rpm zones anyways.
