fan tested in 100F degree ambient temp; works fine

Took the wife on her first ride in the X5 (which she didn't want me to get...but she wasn't unpleased with the fancy electric seat), to vote in a run-off election today. 20 miles on low speed roads (45 and under, with multiple stops interspersed) in 100F+ ambient temperature, so it should be an adequate test of the fan's ability to keep the X5 cool.
Previous testing was in 90 degrees, w/o the A/C running, just testing the new main fan; with the Aux. fan running at the same time, the main fan didn't cut in until 185F, and the running temperature peaked at 194F and settled down to 192.8F, when we reached the polling place.

After voting, we returned home via the same route, but while we were inside the site for under thirty minutes, the temperature rose to 195.8F (I haven't yet enabled the fan to run with the ignition off, will do so later), where it remained until I parked it at home. So, I guess the fan(s) are doing their jobs OK. Next trip, I'll run it for a 50 mile, mixed slow/high speed roads (40-80mph), when we visit her parents next month. That should be another good cooling system/fan test.

Another thing: I haven't quite got the jist of adjusting the automatic climate controls yet. I set both sides to 70F, and adjusted fan speed to midpoint, and the temp probe I have inserted into the middle vent never registered less than 44F (all my GM vehicles will read between 42F ('98 GMC) and 36F ('09 HHR). Would 44F be considered normal for a X5? I had a '73 Volvo that we could never get below 45F (but the heater & heated seats would burn me out in winter!).
