Sounds like you have the factory Nav? Unless you actually need the cash, don't throw it away, or maybe buy a used MID unit you can plug in, should you need it one day. There are a couple of functions that require a working Nav system or MID - like unlocking the anti-theft code lockout, should it become enabled by a flat battery situation etc. (which has been known to occur).
