I have used a couple of those junkyard Volvo fans. They move A LOT of air. I was able to drive my turbo 318is on the highway WITHOUT water flow from the pump when my belt went without overheating. Even on side streets the temps were kept in check enough to get me home. I had utilized a shroud around the fan though which helps.
